New City to Rival New York, Says Revanth Reddy
In a significant announcement, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy revealed plans to develop a new city on 25,000 acres of land in Maheshwaram and neighboring areas, previously designated for pharmaceutical companies. This new urban project aims to rival New York City, showcasing a mix of educational, medical, and technological advancements.
Strategic Urban Planning
Sports University and Medical Hub: The new city will host a sports university and a medical and health hub, reflecting the government's commitment to education and healthcare.
Electric Vehicle Manufacturing: The city will also include electric vehicle and battery manufacturing units, promoting sustainable development and green technology.
Limited Pharma Presence: While the initial plan was to set up numerous pharmaceutical companies, the focus has shifted due to pollution concerns. Only non-polluting pharma units, such as tablet manufacturing, will be permitted.
Government Initiatives
Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu has been tasked with creating detailed plans for the city's development. As part of the infrastructure expansion, Metro rail services will be extended to Hayathnagar, improving connectivity.
Additional Projects
Film City Development: Building on the success of Ramoji Film City, a new film city is planned for the region, aiming to attract the Hindi film industry from Mumbai.
Tourism and Real Estate: With picturesque locations in Munugode and Ibrahimpatnam, the area is set to become a new tourist destination. Land prices in Rangareddy are expected to soar, continuing the legacy of high-value real estate development initiated by previous Congress governments.
Community Engagement
The government also plans to support local toddy tappers by identifying five acres in villages for palm tree planting and integrating palm trees into the Vanamahotsavam program.
