Om Birla Unanimously elected as Lok Sabha Speaker

BJP MP from Rajasthan, Om Birla, has been unanimously elected as the Speaker of Lok Sabha on Wednesday. This has happened after Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed his name on Day 3 of Lok Sabha session.
Om Birla's nomination for the Speaker post was supported by all NDA allies, Congress and Trinamool Congress. The opposition party didn’t field any candidate for the Speaker’s post. So, it has become easy for Om Birla to become Speaker.
A total of 13 motions were moved in support of Om Birla as the Speaker. Finally, Birla was declared as a speaker by pro-tem Speaker Virendra Kumar.
PM Modi said, “it is a matter of pride for Lok Sabha and we all congratulate Om Birla Ji on being unanimously elected as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. Many MPs know Birla Ji. He has served in the state of Rajasthan as well."
Om Birla is a two-time MP and three-time MLA from Rajasthan. He is also a member of the Standing Committee on Energy in Parliament, member of Committee on Petitions and Consultative Committee for Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
