PM Modi at NRI Meet - Uses Rajiv Gandhi's 15 Paise Remarks Against Congress

Prime minister Narendra Modi while inaugurating the 15th Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas convention in Varanasi attacked congress by using famous remarks of former PM Rajiv Gandhi. Modi said that out of a rupee only 15 paise reaches to the poor. He further alleged that despite knowing this fact Congress did nothing to stop the corruption.

PM Modi further said that the 85 % loot that was happening in the Congress rule has been removed by the BJP with the help of technology and around 5,80,000 crore has been given to people through various schemes.

Addressing the NRI meet Modi said, "I consider NRIs India's brand ambassadors. They are the symbols of our capacities and capabilities". Modi also pointed out the case of fake beneficiaries availing benefits of government-run schemes. He said that the BJP-led government “identified 7 crore people who were not born but were taking benefits from the government…They were all living only on paper…This is a glimpse of the change that we have brought in the last four and a half years.”
