Police Constable in Coma after Confrontation with Red Sanders Smugglers
A harrowing incident unfolded near the Chintalapalem checkpost along the Venkatagiri-Yerpedu highway in Tirupati district, as an armed reserve police constable sustained grave injuries after being struck by a vehicle belonging to red sanders smugglers. The incident occurred amidst vehicular checks conducted by the red sanders anti-smuggling task force when the smugglers attempted to evade inspection by speeding through the checkpost.
Constable Prabhakar, bravely attempting to halt the smugglers' vehicle, suffered severe head injuries in the confrontation. Despite his efforts, the smugglers managed to escape, leaving Prabhakar critically injured. He was swiftly transported to a corporate hospital in Renigunta, where reports indicate that he has slipped into a coma during treatment.
In response to a complaint filed by the red sanders task force, the Yerpedu police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
