Political Dynamics Shift as YSRCP MLA Joins Congress Ahead of Elections
In a significant political development, MS Babu, a YSRCP legislator representing Puthalapattu in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, resigned from the ruling party. His decision to join the Congress comes after a meeting with APCC chief YS Sharmila in Kadapa. This move marks the third instance of a legislator from Chittoor deserting the YSRCP ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Previously, the YSRCP had sacked Chittoor legislators Arani Sreenivasulu and Koneti Adimoolam from Satyavedu for openly criticizing the party leadership and aligning with NDA parties like BJP, TDP, and Jana Sena. While Sreenivasulu joined Jana Sena and is contesting from the Tirupati assembly constituency, Adimoolam joined TDP and is fielded from Satyavedu.
The political landscape in Puthalapattu takes an intriguing turn as it awaits Congress' decision on nominating Babu. Meanwhile, the YSRCP has announced Dr. Suneel Kumar as its candidate for the upcoming elections. Adding to the electoral mix, TDP has nominated senior journalist Dr. K Murali Mohan, setting the stage for a triangular contest in the reserved Puthalapattu constituency.
This political maneuvering sets the stage for a closely watched electoral battle, as parties jostle for supremacy in the run-up to the elections.
