President Droupadi Murmu Surprises Kerala Students with Heartwarming Interaction in Varkala
Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 23 — In a touching and unexpected moment, President Droupadi Murmu delighted students of Varkala Model Higher Secondary School when she stepped out of her convoy to personally meet them on her way to Sivagiri Mutt on Thursday.
The President was travelling to the ashram to inaugurate the centenary observance of Sree Narayana Guru’s Mahasamadhi when she noticed a group of students and teachers waiting excitedly by the roadside near the helipad. To everyone’s surprise, her convoy came to a halt, and Murmu, smiling warmly, walked up to greet the children.
The students, including NCC cadets standing at attention in uniform, were thrilled as the President exchanged greetings and accepted marigold flowers grown in their school garden. The spontaneous gesture turned an ordinary day into a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the young students.
A video capturing the moment quickly went viral on social media, showing a student exclaiming that he had just spotted the President moments before her vehicle stopped.
“It was an unforgettable experience for all of us. We never expected the President to step out and meet us,” said the school’s headmaster. Liyons, the School Staff Secretary, shared that the students were also able to see the Governor and several ministers who were part of the convoy.
President Murmu spent around five minutes interacting with the group before resuming her journey, leaving behind smiles, excitement, and a cherished memory for the students of Varkala.
