Revanth Reddy Attacks BJP and BRS, Sparks Controversy With Sharp Political Remarks
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday launched a sharp political attack on both the BJP and the BRS, accusing them of collusion and failure to deliver on key promises to the State. Speaking at a public meeting in Karimnagar, he criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not granting national project status to the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation (PRLI) project, despite earlier assurances.
Revanth Reddy alleged that the BJP and BRS shared an “unholy alliance,” claiming their coordination was evident during recent Lok Sabha elections. Using an analogy that drew criticism, he compared the two parties to “conjoined twins,” stating that although they appeared separate, their leadership was politically inseparable.
Targeting the BJP further, the Chief Minister said Telangana had received “nothing substantial” in the Union Budget, adding that senior BJP leaders visiting the State had returned empty-handed. He also accused the Centre of delaying investigations into alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project and failing to grant permission to question BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao in the Formula E race case.
Responding to Opposition demands for a performance report, Revanth Reddy claimed that the Congress government had delivered tangible results. He listed achievements such as the provision of 70,000 government jobs, the establishment of 100 integrated residential schools, and crop loan waivers, though these claims have been repeatedly contested by the Opposition.
The Chief Minister said the Congress would present a detailed account of its governance record in the Assembly. His remarks, however, triggered sharp reactions from rival parties, further intensifying political tensions in Telangana as debates over governance, accountability, and Centre-State relations continue to dominate public discourse.
