Revanth’s Claim on Crop Damage Compensation Sparks Farmer Outrage
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has come under sharp criticism after his recent claim that farmers received ₹10,000 per acre as compensation for crop damage. The statement, made during a public meeting at Narmetta, left many farmers in Siddipet shocked, as they insist that no such financial assistance has reached them despite repeated crop losses.
Farmers highlighted that during the 2025 Vanakalam season, heavy rains damaged agriculture and horticulture crops multiple times—reportedly on at least four separate occasions. While officials from the agriculture and horticulture departments conducted surveys after each incident, affected farmers claim that no compensation has been disbursed so far.
The Chief Minister’s assertion that the government had provided uniform compensation across regions was met with disbelief among attendees, many of whom remained silent but visibly discontent during the speech. The situation has further fueled political tensions in the region.
Meanwhile, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders have intensified their criticism of the state government. Former minister T. Harish Rao has repeatedly accused the administration of neglecting Siddipet, alleging that several development projects initiated earlier have been stalled. He has also written multiple open letters urging the release of pending funds, but claims that these appeals have gone unanswered.
The controversy has not only raised questions about the transparency of compensation mechanisms but has also deepened concerns among farmers already struggling with financial uncertainty. With agriculture being a critical livelihood in the region, the issue is likely to remain a major political flashpoint in Telangana in the coming months.
