Roja's Electoral Journey: Challenges and Triumphs in Nagari
State tourism minister and actress RK Roja faces a formidable challenge from within her own party, the YSRCP, as well as a resurgent Telugu Desam camp led by the NDA alliance in her bid for a third consecutive electoral victory from Nagari in Chittoor district.
Roja's political journey has seen twists and turns, starting with successive defeats while with the Telugu Desam party. She later joined the Congress during Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy's tenure as Chief Minister, and eventually switched to the YSRCP when YS Jagan Mohan Reddy parted ways with the Congress.
Her first electoral win from Nagari came in 2014, defeating former Telugu Desam minister Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu by a narrow margin of 858 votes. This victory was followed by another in the 2019 general elections, where she triumphed over Gali Bhanu Prakash by a slim margin of 2708 votes.
Now, as she faces dissidence within her party and a strong opposition, Roja must navigate these challenges strategically to secure her hat-trick victory in Nagari. With the NDA alliance gaining momentum and internal discontent brewing, Roja's campaign will require astute political maneuvering and effective communication to rally support and maintain her electoral dominance in the region.
