SC Asks Kolkata Police Commissioner to Join the CBI Probe in Chit Fund Scam
Supreme Court asked Kolkata Police Commissioner, Rajeev Kumar to be available to CBI investigations related to the Saradha chit fund scam.
However, SC ordered Kumar should not be arrested in the case or no other coercive action should be taken against him.
Soon after the verdict, Mamta Benerjee said "We see this as a moral victory because we respect the judiciary. We always wanted to co-operate."
Rajeev Kumar was accused of handing over incomplete data to the CBI in the case and destroying electronic evidence.
When Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that Kumar was asked to surrender, CJI said that there is no evidence for it as he read the papers submitted by CBI.
