Strong Voter Turnout Recorded in 19 Municipalities of Erstwhile Medak District
Municipal elections across 19 civic bodies in the erstwhile Medak district witnessed robust voter participation, despite reports of isolated disturbances. Officials confirmed high polling percentages in several municipalities, reflecting strong public engagement in the democratic process.
Jinnaram municipality in Sangareddy district recorded the highest turnout at 90.98 per cent. Gaddapotharam followed with 86.08 per cent polling. Sangareddy municipality, the largest civic body in the district, registered the lowest turnout at 70.06 per cent. The average polling across 11 municipalities in Sangareddy district stood at 76.01 per cent.
In Siddipet district, Dubbak recorded 85.05 per cent turnout, while Husnabad saw 84.21 per cent. Cheriyal and Gajwel reported 83.41 per cent and 79.35 per cent respectively. In Medak district, Ramayampet recorded 84.21 per cent polling, Toopran 81.30 per cent, Medak 80.75 per cent, and Narsapur 74.61 per cent.
There were allegations that some Congress leaders attempted to disrupt polling and encourage fake voting in certain areas. However, despite these claims and minor incidents, voters turned out in large numbers.
Following the polling trend, BRS leaders expressed confidence in securing a majority of the municipalities. The high voter turnout underscores active civic participation and the electorate’s commitment to shaping local governance.
