Supreme Court Set to Review CID Appeal Against Chandrababu's Bail
The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the bail petition of Chandrababu Naidu, former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and leader of TDP, today. Recently, the Andhra Pradesh High Court granted bail to Chandrababu, who had been arrested in connection with a corruption case.
Challenging this decision, the government filed a petition in the Supreme Court. Today, arguments will take place in the Supreme Court regarding the plea to cancel Chandrababu's bail. Government lawyers argue that the State High Court granted bail to Chandrababu without adequately considering their arguments, alleging that the High Court exceeded its authority.
AAG Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy explained to the High Court how Chandrababu was implicated in corruption related to skill development, presenting evidence to support their case. However, Ponnavolu alleges that the AP High Court unilaterally decided on Chandrababu's bail without taking these factors into consideration, asserting a deviation from Supreme Court guidelines.
CID arrested former CM Chandrababu Naidu on September 9, accusing him of massive corruption in the name of skill development. Consequently, Chandrababu spent over 50 days in Rajahmundry Central Jail. Finally, the High Court granted conditional interim bail to Chandrababu, considering his health issues in jail.
Recently, the High Court also granted general bail to Chandrababu Naidu in the skill development case.
