TDP's Nara Lokesh Predicts Trouble for YSRCP as 85 MLAs Decline 2024 Contest
In a recent message on 'X' (formerly Twitter), Nara Lokesh, the national general secretary of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), highlighted what he believes to be a growing sense of fear within the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). According to Lokesh, this fear is evident in the decision of 85 YSRCP MLAs to refrain from contesting in the upcoming 2024 elections from their respective constituencies.
Lokesh expressed confidence that the YSRCP's decline was inevitable and suggested that both MLAs and MPs within the ruling party could sense the brewing anger among the electorate. He went on to claim that the YSRCP was headed for troubled waters after the general elections. Currently, 35 MLAs have already made it clear that they will not seek re-election, and Lokesh hinted that an additional 50 MLAs may also be hesitant to stand as ruling party candidates in their constituencies.
This development could have significant implications for Andhra Pradesh's political landscape as the YSRCP faces increasing resistance from within its own ranks, and the TDP anticipates a challenging electoral contest in 2024.
