TDP's Nara Lokesh Urges CM Jagan for AgriGold Victims' Justice
Nara Lokesh, the National General Secretary of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), has sent a heartfelt plea to Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, calling for swift action to address the ongoing plight of AgriGold scam victims. Lokesh's pointed letter serves as a reminder of past allegations made against the TDP government and himself during Jagan's tenure as opposition leader.
Lokesh underscored that the AgriGold scandal's roots trace back to the era of Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy, alleging fraudulent activities by the company even then. He highlighted the proactive measures taken by the TDP government in 2014, including the confiscation of 21,000 acres of AgriGold properties and the apprehension of company representatives, all aimed at securing justice for the victims.
Expressing his disappointment, Lokesh questioned whether the promised Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia payments had reached any of the families of the 600 AgriGold victims who tragically took their own lives. He drew a pointed contrast with the previous TDP administration, which provided Rs 5 lakh each as ex-gratia to 142 family members of AgriGold victims who had passed away between 2014 and 2019.
Lokesh's impassioned plea serves as a call to action, urging Jagan to prioritize the remaining AgriGold depositors, who are collectively owed a substantial sum of Rs 3080 crore. He implores the Chief Minister to expedite their rightful claims and ensure that justice prevails for these victims before his term concludes.
