TVK Announces Tamil Nadu Candidates; Vijay to Contest from Two Seats
Actor-turned-politician Vijay has officially announced candidates for his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Marking the party’s electoral debut, Vijay revealed that he will contest from two constituencies—Perambur and Trichy East.
Addressing supporters in Chennai, Vijay described the announcement as a pivotal moment in building a new political alternative. He emphasized that TVK’s candidates are drawn from ordinary backgrounds rather than elite circles, positioning them as genuine representatives of the people.
“Our candidates are not wealthy or powerful individuals, but those who understand the struggles of common citizens,” Vijay said. He contrasted this approach with what he described as corruption among existing political leaders.
Vijay stressed that being an MLA requires more than experience, highlighting integrity, accountability, and commitment as essential qualities. He also framed elected representatives as custodians of democracy and voices of the people.
Encouraging voters to support TVK’s “whistle” symbol, Vijay branded the election as a “whistle revolution,” promising transparent governance if elected. He assured the public that his party would prioritize women’s safety, enforce strict law and order, and work toward a drug-free Tamil Nadu.
The TVK chief added that he personally oversaw the candidate selection process to ensure credibility and dedication. He concluded with an appeal for voters to give his party an opportunity, pledging that TVK would not misuse public funds or act against the interests of the state.
The announcement marks a crucial step for TVK as it seeks to establish its presence in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.
