Telangana Assembly Election 2023 Updates: 22% voter turnout recorded till 10am
As pe the latest updates from the Telangana Assembly Election 2023 indicate a 22% voter turnout recorded by 10 am. Today, 32.6 million voters in Telangana are set to determine the fate of 2,290 candidates competing for 119 assembly seats. The election has seen an intense campaign, featuring prominent national leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi of the Congress, and K Chandrashekar Rao of the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
Results for Telangana, along with those for Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Mizoram (where voting occurred between November 7 and November 25), will be announced on December 3. Telangana is the final state among these to conduct its elections.
Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj shared that polling is scheduled from 7 am to 5 pm in 106 constituencies and from 7 am to 4 pm in 13 Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected areas. Over 250,000 staff members are engaged in poll duties for the assembly elections.
The ruling BRS has candidates in all 119 seats, the BJP and Jana Sena are contesting in 111 and 8 seats respectively. Additionally, the Congress has allocated one seat to its ally, the Communist Party of India (CPI), while fielding candidates in 118 other constituencies.
As of 9 am, an 8.52% voter turnout was recorded in Telangana. After casting his vote, Telangana Minister and BRS MLA KT Rama Rao urged citizens to exercise their franchise for the betterment of the state. Actor Venkatesh Daggubati and BJP candidate DR K Laxman were among those who cast their votes in the ongoing election.
Other notable figures, including AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi, actor Srikanth, and Revanth Reddy, emphasized the importance of voting and shared their expectations from first-time voters. Revanth Reddy expressed confidence in winning, stating that the Congress would make efforts to fulfill people's expectations and form the government with a 2/3rd majority.
