Telangana CM KCR's five-day Sahasra Chandi Yagam begins
Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao commenced the Sahasra Chandi Yagam under the aegis of Sharada Peetadhipathi Sri Swarupanandendra Saraswathi Swamy of Visakhapatnam at his Yerravalli farm house in Siddipet district on Monday.
Mr. Rao and his wife commenced the five-day Yagnam at the specially erected Yagashala under the guidance of Tangirala Sitarama Shastry of Sringeri Peetham of Karnataka, Madugula Manikya Somayajulu and Rigveda pundits Narendra Papre and other prominent pundits.
The five-day 'Chandi Yagam' of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao began on Monday with nearly 300 priests participating in the first day's rituals amidst Vedic recitations.
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President's family members, party MPs, state legislators and leaders participated in the 'Yagam'.
About 300 Ritviks initiated the Yagam with a special ‘havan’ of 1,000 ‘modaks’. Chief Minister and his wife first went around the Yagna Vatika amidst the Vedic chanting by the Ritviks followed by several rituals like Gho puja, Guru puja. The Chief Minister and his wife spent about three hours offering special pujas and also offered their respects to the elderly couples.
The Yagam will be concluded with Purnahuti on January 25 afternoon.
