Telangana Drops Plans To Acquire Land After Farmers Protest.

Due to protests by farmers, the Telangana government has canceled the land pooling process for the development of the Outer Ring Road (ORR) in Warangal.
A statement to this effect was issued on Monday night. Farmers are protesting against the proposal to acquire land in 28 villages around Warangal city.
Arvind Kumar, Special Chief Secretary, municipal administration and urban development, stated that the govt directed the Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) to immediately withdraw the notification issued on April 30 seeking the consent of landowners for land pooling.
In order to develop the ORR, KUDA pooled land in three districts, including Hanmakonda, Warangal, and Jangaon, and commissioned survey work covering 28 villages.
Farmers have protested against the notification. The group has formed a Joint Action Committee (JAC) to fight against land acquisition.
They staged a road blockade on the Warangal - Hyderabad highway last week, disrupting traffic for several hours.
Ruling TRS MLA from Wardhannapet Aroori Ramesh had also called on the minister for municipal administration and urban development KTR and discussed the issue in the wake of the protest by farmers.
