Telangana Government Appoints SIT To Inquest Police Encounter

Telangana government on Sunday appointed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case of encounter of the four accused involved in the rape-murder case of Hyderabad Vet.

On 6 December 2019, police took the accused back to the crime spot to get the real idea of the incident, where they were shot dead by the police when they allegedly tried to snatch the guns and run away. The four accused were named as Mohammed Areef, Jollu Shiva, Jollu Naveen, and Chennakeshavulu.

The appointed SIT will look into the case and work accordingly under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder), 394 (Voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery), 224, 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) read with Section 34 and 176 (omission to give notice or information to public servant by person legally bound to give it).

SIT will work to find and preserve the evidence if any, identify the witness and also record their statement and the cause of the incident leading to the death of the four accused. Also, the government orders every agency to provide support to the SIT and not to interfere in its working.
