Telangana High Court Grants Conditional Bail to Ibomma Ravi
In a significant development in the high-profile iBomma piracy case, the Telangana High Court granted conditional bail to Ibomma Ravi, also known as Emmadi Ravi. He was arrested on November 15 in connection with an alleged large-scale movie piracy and online betting advertisement racket linked to the controversial streaming platform iBomma.
The court imposed strict conditions while granting relief. Ravi has been directed not to leave the country and must surrender his passport to authorities. He is also required to report daily to the CCS police at 11 am to ensure cooperation with the ongoing investigation. Officials stated that these restrictions are meant to prevent any attempt to evade questioning or interfere with the probe.
The case has drawn widespread attention within the Telugu film industry, which has long accused piracy platforms of causing significant financial losses. Investigators are reportedly examining the operational structure behind iBomma, including its digital distribution channels and financial transactions. Authorities are also probing alleged links between the platform and online betting advertisements.
Legal experts note that bail does not weaken the prosecution’s case. The investigation will continue, with further questioning likely based on digital evidence and financial records. The case has reignited debate over online piracy in India and the urgent need for stronger enforcement mechanisms to protect filmmakers and producers from revenue loss. As the legal process unfolds, the spotlight remains firmly on curbing illegal streaming networks and safeguarding intellectual property rights.
