Telangana To Have New Secretariat Complex In One Year

The Telangana government, on Tuesday, started the demolition of the secretariat buildings for the construction of a new complex for the Telangana state secretariat.
The new complex will be built taking into consideration the historic architectural design, and modern technology highlighting the rich culture and tradition of Telangana.
The Secretariat comprises 10 blocks and the complex is spread over 25.5 acres of land. The government had de-notified the Saravahita Block, built during the Nizam’s regime, from the heritage list.
The demolition work started just a few days after the Telangana High Court rejected PILs challenging the K Chandrashekar Rao government’s decision to build a new secretariat complex by razing the existing one.
The new complex will have concrete structures in only 20 percent of the vast 25-acre campus and the rest will be dedicated to landscaping and greenery.
