The US Might Abolish Per Country Quota!

In response to the White House's support for a bill - EAGLE Act - the US green card process is likely to become more accessible. Immigrants will benefit from key changes to the law proposed by the Act. And if the bill becomes law, it will be hugely beneficial for hundreds of thousands of immigrants, especially Indian Americans.
EAGLE Act
As a result of the bill, US employers will be able to hire people based on merit, rather than their birthplace, rather than the country in which they were born.
It said applications could only be approved once a visa was available, giving employment-based immigrants more flexibility in changing employers or starting a business.
Why is this Act significant?
Each year, approximately 140,000 green cards are issued based on employment. However, only 7% of those green cards can go to individuals from a single country annually, cites FWD.
When the number of individuals sponsored from a single country exceeds 7% of the available annual total, a backlog forms, and the excess petitions are not considered.
India and China, which are the main hubs for skilled workers wanting to migrate to the US, have experienced extensive backlogs as a result of these country-specific caps.
And this wait time will increase to 50 years unless the law is changed.
Taking credit for the Act, the White House said immigrants have contributed to key sectors of the US economy and bolstered America's most valuable competitive advantage.
