The list of smart cities in the world is out. Find out where Hyderabad is on the list.
The International Institute for Management Development (IMD) and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) have put out a list of smart cities around the world called the IMD Smart City Index.
The study looked at the current infrastructure and digital services available to residents. It did this by looking at how residents see and interact with government efforts in five main areas: health and safety, mobility, activities, opportunities (the work and education systems), and governance.
Zurich is at the top of the list. Since 2019, the city has been at the top of the list. Except for Canberra and Singapore, which are both in Australia, all of the top ten smart cities in the world are in Europe.

The position of Hyderabad on the list of smart cities
Delhi is the smartest city in India. It is ranked 105th in the world. Mumbai is the second-smartest city in India. It is number 109 on the world list.
Hyderabad is the fourth smartest city in India, but it is the 116th smartest city in the world. On the list, there are 141 cities in all.

Abu Dhabi was named the smartest city in the MENA Area.
Abu Dhabi was named the smartest city in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region for the third year in a row. The head of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa, was proud that Abu Dhabi was named the smartest city in the region.
IMD's Smart Cities Index is used by international organisations, decision-makers, and institutions to measure how well national strategies are working to improve people's welfare, make progress, and improve their quality of life.
