‘They Can Never Dig My Grave’: Modi Launches Fierce Attack on Congress in Parliament
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched a blistering attack on the Congress, accusing it of electoral frustration, disrespect for constitutional institutions, and sustained attempts to undermine democratic values. Replying to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address, Modi asserted that the Opposition would “never be able to dig his grave,” as the blessings of crores of Indians served as his protective shield.
The Prime Minister criticised the disruption of parliamentary proceedings, calling it an insult not only to President Droupadi Murmu but also to the Constitution itself. He said the Congress had no moral authority to speak about constitutional values. Modi also condemned Rahul Gandhi’s remarks against Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu, terming them an insult to the Sikh community.
Accusing the Congress of double standards, Modi said those claiming to run a “Mohabbat ki Dukaan” were raising slogans wishing harm upon him, reflecting deep frustration over repeated electoral defeats. He stated that such hostility stemmed from his government’s decisive actions, including the abrogation of Article 370, action against terrorism and Naxalism, and cross-border operations against terror camps.
Highlighting achievements of the past 11 years, Modi pointed to high economic growth, controlled inflation, infrastructure expansion, and India’s rise as a strong global voice, particularly for the Global South. He also cited recent trade agreements with the European Union and the United States, calling them “future-ready” deals that have boosted global confidence in India.
Declaring that India is riding the “Reform Express,” Modi said the country would lead from the front and achieve its goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047, adding that the second quarter of the century would be crucial in building a Viksit Bharat.
