Three-day state visit to India by the PM of Malaysia
Anwar bin Ibrahim, the prime minister of Malaysia, will arrive in India on Monday for a three-day "State Visit."
Anwar Ibrahim will make a state visit to India from August 19 to 21, according to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), which was sent by Prime Minister Modi.
According to the MEA, this will be the prime minister of Malaysia's first visit to India.
The Malaysian prime minister will be greeted ceremoniously on Tuesday at Rashtrapati Bhavan's Forecourt and pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat. Following this, he will have bilateral talks with Prime Minister Modi, who will also be hosting a luncheon in his honor. This information is according to MEA.
Anwar Ibrahim is expected to see President Droupadi Murmu later in the day. During his visit, S. Jaishankar, the Minister of External Affairs, would also pay a visit to the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
"There are significant historical and sociocultural ties between Malaysia and India. During Prime Minister Modi's visit in 2015, our bilateral relationship was upgraded to the level of an Enhanced Strategic Partnership, according to the MEA.
The statement went on, "The visit of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim would pave the way for further strengthening of India-Malaysia bilateral ties by charting out a multi-sectoral cooperation agenda for the future as both countries enter the second decade of Enhanced Strategic Partnership next year."
Johari Abdul Ghani, the Minister of Plantations and Commodities of Malaysia, traveled to India earlier in July.
During his July 16–19 visit to India, Ghani met with Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at Krishi Bhawan to talk about ways to strengthen bilateral agricultural cooperation between the two nations.
