Trump's Fundraising Site Crashes After Guilty Verdict
Former US President Donald Trump's fundraising website, WinRed, temporarily crashed after a New York jury found him guilty of all 34 charges in a hush money trial on Thursday. Trump was convicted of illegally influencing the 2016 election by making a hush money payment to a porn actor. The crash happened as many people searched for "Donald Trump donation" online following the verdict.
The Trump Campaign's official account on X (formerly Twitter) posted that the site went down because so many Americans tried to donate. They assured supporters they were working to restore the site quickly. The error message has since been resolved.
Trump urged his followers to donate immediately after the verdict and shared links to the donation page on his social media platform, Truth Social. Initially, the link to the WinRed page wasn't working properly.
This conviction makes Trump the first former American president found guilty of felony crimes. After the trial, Trump called the proceedings "disgraceful and rigged," and said the real verdict would come from the people on November 5. Judge Juan Merchan set sentencing for July 11, just before the Republican National Convention.
