US Backs Modi’s Role in Mediating Iran-Israel Crisis Amid Rising Tensions
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is increasingly being viewed as a key mediator in the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict, with the United States expressing strong support for his involvement. Following a recent conversation with former US President Donald Trump, Washington highlighted the importance of India’s role in promoting regional stability.
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor described the discussion as highly significant, particularly in the context of global energy security and maritime stability. He emphasized the need to ensure that international waterways, especially the Strait of Hormuz, remain open and free from disruption.
Gor reiterated that no single nation should be allowed to control or block vital international trade routes, stressing that global consensus supports keeping such waterways accessible. He also praised Modi’s understanding of the situation, noting that his insights are highly valued in international discussions.
The strong rapport between Modi and Trump was also highlighted, with Gor stating that Trump appreciates Modi’s leadership and considers India a crucial global partner. He added that both nations are committed to continued dialogue and cooperation in addressing the crisis.
The developments come after the US paused planned strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure, signalling a preference for diplomatic resolution. Meanwhile, Modi has reassured Parliament that India has sufficient crude reserves to manage potential disruptions.
As tensions persist, India’s balanced diplomatic approach and active engagement are seen as vital in ensuring stability and preventing escalation in the region.
