What would happen if CID took CBN to court?
Chief of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Chandrababu Naidu, has been granted regular bail by the Andhra Pradesh High Court in the Skill Development Case. Reportedly unhappy with the decision, the CID may petition the Supreme Court. There are hints that on Tuesday, a petition would be submitted to the Supreme Court. The bail that the High Court granted Chandrababu Naidu shocked and infuriated the ruling party, the YSRCP.
The court's ruling highlighted the dearth of proof linking TDP's bank accounts to the purportedly misappropriated funds. The prosecution faced criticism for failing to provide sufficient proof to back up the grave accusations made against Chandrababu Naidu. The CID could have presented more convincing evidence before requesting the leader's remand, the judge suggested. In the Skill Development case, Chandrababu Naidu has already petitioned the Supreme Court to dismiss the CID remand report.
The Supreme Court has not yet made a decision on this case. Chandrababu Naidu's honesty may be viewed differently if the Supreme Court rules in his favour, not just in Andhra Pradesh but also across the country. Political leaders around the nation are now concerned about how Section 17-A is being applied in this particular case.
