YSRTP Founder YS Sharmila Set to Discuss Party's Merger with Congress in Delhi
YSRTP founder YS Sharmila is scheduled to depart for New Delhi on Wednesday for crucial discussions regarding her party's merger with the Congress. She will engage with AICC leadership, including Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi and MP Rahul Gandhi, alongside YSRTP leaders. An official announcement regarding this merger is anticipated following the meetings in the Indian capital.
YS Sharmila, the daughter of the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the former Chief Minister, has been actively pursuing the amalgamation of her party with the Congress. She recently convened a meeting with YSRTP leaders, bringing the merger closer to its culmination.
The merger, now in its final stages, may potentially be formalized on January 4, although this remains unconfirmed. In addition to discussions about party integration, there is speculation that YS Sharmila may assume responsibilities within the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) and even be nominated to the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka.
It is worth noting that YSRTP refrained from contesting the recent Telangana Assembly elections held on November 30, instead extending its support to the Congress.
