14 Terrorists Killed in Pakistan’s Waziristan Operation

Pakistan’s security forces neutralized 14 terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan, near the Afghan border, according to the country’s military media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The operation was conducted from June 2 to 3 in the Datta Khel area, which has long been a hotspot for terrorist activities. Acting on credible intelligence, the forces raided a known terrorist hideout, resulting in a fierce exchange of gunfire. All 14 militants, referred to by the ISPR as “khwarij,” a term used for extremist outlaws, were killed in the gunfight.
In a statement, the ISPR confirmed that follow-up sanitization operations are ongoing to eliminate any remaining militants in the region. “Pakistan’s security forces remain resolute in their mission to eradicate terrorism, especially that which is supported or sponsored,” the statement read.
North Waziristan, part of Pakistan’s former tribal belt, has historically served as a sanctuary for militant groups. Over the years, Pakistani forces have carried out numerous military campaigns to regain control of the area and curtail cross-border terrorist infiltration from Afghanistan.
This recent operation underscores the persistent threat of terrorism in the region and the military’s ongoing commitment to tackling it head-on. The elimination of these terrorists is considered a significant step in Pakistan’s broader anti-terrorism strategy, especially given the resurgence of Taliban-aligned and other extremist groups after the fall of Kabul in 2021.
While Pakistan has made progress in counterterrorism efforts, sporadic attacks still occur, keeping the region on high alert. Security analysts say these operations are critical in maintaining pressure on militant networks and restoring long-term peace and stability.
