A Brief look at the 2019 Lok Sabha Election’s performance

As per EC, the 2019 Lok Sabha elections have seen the highest rate of voters casting votes. In a few cases, voting had to be rescheduled on the second day due to cancellation, but it results in 1.16 Percentage increase in voter’s number.
As per the statements made by the Election Commission, the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, had seen the highest number of voters actually coming out of their homes for casting votes. As per stats, it was observed that nationwide over 67.11 percent out of total voters had cast votes for these elections.
The voting was conducted across 542 constituencies nationwide and yet it was seen that the performance was at least 1.16 percent on the higher side as compared to 2014 Lok Sabha Elections.
As the counts for Vellore district was not taken into consideration due to voting cancellation and rescheduling, the EC has announced that the figures would further increase after re-polling conducted.
2014 had seen around 66.44 percent of voters casting their votes for 543 Seats within constituencies. 2019 elections have already broken that record by exceeding to around 67.11 percent.
As far as stats for past Lok Sabha elections are concerned, it is obvious that the nation has experienced voter fluctuations in number for 16 such elections. Over a period of time, from 1967 till 2019, the percentage of voters participating in these elections, have increased consistently.
The current data also proves that the voter percentage was seen much higher in at least 18 UTs and states. Remaining 16 states showed a lower percentage of voters participating in these elections. Madhya Pradesh state had also recorded the highest percentage equivalent to around 71.2 Percent while the Jammu and Kashmir state recorded the lowest percentage equivalent to 29.39 percent.
