AAP Seeks Disqualification of Seven Rebel MPs Who Joined BJP
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has formally petitioned the Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan seeking the disqualification of seven MPs who recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The party argues that their actions violate India’s anti-defection laws.
AAP leader Sanjay Singh submitted the petition, claiming that the MPs’ decision to merge with the BJP constitutes defection rather than a legitimate political realignment. The move follows the high-profile exit of Raghav Chadha, along with Ashok Mittal and Sandeep Pathak, who announced their resignation from AAP and subsequent merger with the BJP.
Defending his decision, Chadha stated that he distanced himself from AAP due to disagreements with its direction and alleged misconduct within the party. He claimed he could no longer align with its values and chose to pursue what he described as constructive politics.
