AP to Fill All Vacant Teacher Posts in 2025: Nara Lokesh
In a recent Legislative Assembly session, Andhra Pradesh IT and Human Resources Development Minister Nara Lokesh announced that the state government would fill all vacant teacher positions next year through a "best DSC notification," aiming to address longstanding gaps in the education sector. Responding to Visakhapatnam North MLA P. Vishnu Kumar Raju's query, Lokesh revealed plans to tackle these vacancies and improve educational staffing statewide.
Highlighting the history of the recruitment process, Lokesh explained that, from the 22,542 teaching posts advertised in the 1998 DSC notification, 18,008 appointments were made by 1999. Of the remaining 4,534 posts, 3,939 were eventually filled under Minimum Time Scale (MTS) regulations, leaving 595 positions still open. He assured that these remaining positions would be reviewed and filled promptly, with the government’s commitment to release a new DSC notification soon.
Lokesh further elaborated that MTS candidates, who currently lack retirement benefits, have a retirement age of 60 years. Reflecting on the broader hiring efforts, he mentioned that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has conducted 11 DSC drives, successfully filling over 1.5 lakh teaching positions. After the NDA coalition came to power, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu signed off on the mega DSC initiative, which brought renewed optimism among teaching aspirants across Andhra Pradesh.
The state’s commitment to filling these vacancies reflects a focused effort to strengthen its education sector and ensure that schools are fully staffed, benefitting students and teachers alike.
