Accused in Sarabjit Singh Murder Shot Dead in Lahore: Report
Amir Sarfaraz Tamba, a suspect in the killing of Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh and associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Sayeed, was fatally shot by unidentified assailants in Lahore today, according to official sources. Tamba was attacked by gunmen on motorcycles in Lahore's Islampura area and was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Sarabjit Singh, aged 49, passed away due to a heart attack at Lahore's Jinnah Hospital on May 2, 2013, after being in a coma for nearly a week following a vicious assault by fellow inmates, including Tamba, in Kot Lakhpat jail. Born in Lahore in 1979, Tamba was closely associated with the LeT founder.
Sarabjit Singh was subjected to a brutal attack with bricks and iron rods by a group of Pakistani prisoners. He was convicted of involvement in bombings in Punjab province in 1990 and was sentenced to death.
