Ajit Pawar Plane Crash Live Updates: DGCA Confirms No Survivors in Mumbai–Baramati Tragedy
In a shocking incident that has sent ripples across Maharashtra’s political landscape, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Wednesday confirmed that there were no survivors after a chartered aircraft carrying Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar crashed while flying from Mumbai to Baramati. The crash occurred at approximately 8.45 am, claiming the lives of all five people on board, including Pawar.
According to officials, the chartered aircraft crash-landed under circumstances that are still being investigated. Ajit Pawar was travelling to Baramati to participate in a public rally connected to the ongoing Zilla Parishad elections. The DGCA stated that along with Pawar, the aircraft was carrying two members of his personal staff—a personal security officer (PSO) and an attendant—as well as two crew members. The crew included the pilot-in-command (PIC) and the first officer (FO).
Just a day before the tragic incident, Pawar had been in Mumbai attending an important meeting of the Maharashtra Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and was also attended by state minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule along with senior government officials. Pawar’s sudden demise has come as a major blow to the state administration, where he played a key role in governance and political strategy.
Emergency services were rushed to the crash site soon after the incident was reported, but rescue teams found no signs of survival. Authorities have secured the area, and a detailed investigation has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the crash. The DGCA and other aviation agencies are expected to examine technical data, weather conditions, and flight records as part of the probe.
