Ala Vaikunthapuramulo Movie Review : A Family Entertainer

Finally, the most awaited film, Ala Vaikunthapuramulo, starring Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde, has arrived at theatres today. Stylish star Allu Arjun is back on screen, once again teaming up with his Julayi, Son of Sathyamurthy director, Trivikram Srinivas. Here is the review of the film.
Story:
The film begins with Tabu and Rohini being admitted to a hospital for delivery. The movie then presents the two kids growing up in contrasting ways, one as middle-class Bantu(Allu Arjun) and the other as rich Raj(Sushanth).
Bantu grows up seeking recognition from a cold-hearted father Valmiki (Murli Sharma) who puts him down at every step of his life. Millionaire Ramachandra (Jayram) wishes his son Raj Manohar to be more assertive. How Bantu’s life intersects with them and what is the truth behind his birth, forms the rest of the story.
Analysis:
There is nothing new in the storyline, but it’s the narrative magic that grabs the attention of the audiences and fans. This film might not reach that magical level, but there is enough to engage.
The tone is set right at the start, when conflict is established through the character of Murali Sharma, acting as a literal narrator to the audience. Once Allu Arjun is introduced, his performance makes the bond firm, and the entertainment is provided through his character.
The narrative part never gets into the boring zone, thanks to the acting of the leads. The first half of the film moves on a fun note with Allu Arjun's entry, his clashes with Navdeep, and romance with Pooja Hegde. From the interval, with the arrival of Samuthirakani, the film takes a detour with several mass scenes, and later continues with a mix of sentiments, emotions, melodrama, and some usual end. Allu Arjun leads from the front and the cast supports him well. Trivikram again delivers a safe bet entertainer that is sure to work this Sankranthi Season.
Performances:
Allu Arjun is at his best and has given a solid performance, be it the fun sequences, or the mass episodes, or the emotional moments of the film. He dances like a charm and emotes wonderfully. The female lead, Pooja Hegde is pretty as the love interest and does an adequate job, her beauty is one of the plus points.
Senior actors Tabu and Jayaram have delivered impressive supporting acts and have given strong performances. Other actors, Nivetha Pethuraj, Sushanth, Navdeep, Rajendra Prasad, Rahul Ramakrishna, and Sunil have performed well in their minimal roles, while Samuthirakani is good as the antagonist.
Technicians:
SS Thaman's background music is impressive. All his songs are already chartbusters, and well appreciated by the audiences. Cinematography is done by PS Vinod, who has captured the action and family moments in a lively manner. Editing by Naveen Nooli is adequate.
Positive:
Allu Arjun performance

Second Half
Negative

Overall Verdict:
The very simple storyline, with breezy comedy, great music and emotion interval. The film is a complete family entertainer, never bores you.
