Alia Bhatt’s Former Secretary Arrested for ₹77 Lakh Fraud

Alia Bhatt’s former secretary, Vedika Shetty, has been arrested for allegedly defrauding the Bollywood star of ₹76.9 lakh over two years. The arrest came after a complaint was filed by Alia’s mother, veteran actress Soni Razdan, several months ago. On Tuesday, Mumbai’s Juhu Police apprehended Shetty from Bengaluru and presented her in court, where she was remanded to police custody until July 10.
According to the Mumbai Police, Shetty managed Alia’s financial matters from 2021 to 2024 and allegedly forged the actress’s signature to siphon funds. She has been booked under Sections 316(4) and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Following the fraudulent activity, Shetty absconded and remained untraceable for months until her recent arrest.
Alia Bhatt has not yet issued any public statement regarding the incident. Meanwhile, she is currently busy shooting for her upcoming spy thriller Alpha, co-starring Sharvari. The film is expected to be a major release and has been listed among IMDb’s most anticipated films of 2025.
On a personal note, Alia recently shared her excitement about her husband Ranbir Kapoor’s first look in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, set for Diwali 2026. She praised the teaser featuring Ranbir as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana, calling it “the start of something unforgettable.”
The teaser opens with stunning visuals of the Hindu trinity—Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva—before transitioning into animated glimpses of the epic characters. Ramayana is expected to be a two-part global cinematic experience, with Part 1 releasing in 2026 and Part 2 in 2027.
