Allu Arjun’s Grandmother Passes Away at 94, Film Industry Pays Tribute

Hyderabad was struck with grief on Saturday as Allu Kanakaratnam, mother of veteran producer Allu Aravind and grandmother of superstar Allu Arjun, passed away at the age of 94. Her demise cast a shadow across the Telugu film industry, with condolence messages pouring in from colleagues and admirers.
Family sources confirmed that Kanakaratnam’s mortal remains were brought to the Aravind residence, with last rites scheduled in Kokapet on Saturday afternoon. The Allu family, known for its deep legacy in Telugu cinema, received widespread support from fans and industry peers during this difficult time.
Actor Ram Charan, who is currently filming Buchi Babu Sana’s Peddi in Mysore, immediately cancelled his shoot to attend the funeral. Reports reveal he was in the midst of shooting a massive introduction song featuring 1,000 dancers, choreographed by Jani Master, with music by AR Rahman. Despite the grandeur of the production, Ram Charan prioritized family solidarity, underlining the close-knit nature of Tollywood’s leading families.
The song, touted as one of the highlights of Peddi, is expected to be a visual treat for fans. The film is scheduled for release on March 27, 2026, coinciding with Charan’s birthday.
The Telugu film fraternity expressed deep sorrow over Kanakaratnam’s passing, acknowledging her role as the matriarch of one of cinema’s most influential families. The Allu family’s contributions—from Allu Aravind’s production ventures to Allu Arjun’s pan-India stardom—remain pillars of Tollywood.
Her passing marks the end of an era, but her legacy lives on through her children and grandchildren, who continue to shape the film industry with remarkable influence.
