American And Canadian Citizenship Demand Hot Among Indians!

The United States has remained the main draw for Indians moving abroad and gaining citizenship in other countries.
According to the latest government data, as many as 1,63,370 Indians renounced their citizenship to become citizens of other countries in 2021.
This number decreased during the COVID-19 pandemic when 85,256 citizens moved out. In 2019, 1,44,017 Indians had relinquished their citizenship.
Most Indians transferred their citizenship to the United States (78,284), followed by Australia (23,533), Canada (21,597), and the UK(14,637).
Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai shared the data with the Lok Sabha. Data provided by the Minister mentions that there were 103 countries where Indians who relinquished citizenship moved.
Those countries included Armenia, Australia, Argentina, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, China, Colombia, United Kingdom, Finland, France, Germany, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Malaysia, Maldives, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Ireland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, USA, Venezuela, among others.
