Amid The Raging Violence Against CAA, Akshay Kumar Liked A Tweet On Jamia Violence And Then Unliked It…

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar on Monday took to Twitter to clarify that he had earlier 'accidentally' liked a tweet that appeared to mock the police crackdown on Jamia Millia University students during a protest on Sunday evening against the CAA.

While several other Bollywood stars lashed out at the authorities over the tension at Delhi's Jamia Millia Islamia University, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar landed himself in a soup by liking a video that mocked the attack on Jamia. When checked after some minutes, it had been 'unliked'.

"Liked by mistake", clarified Akshay.

The actor tweeted, "Regarding the 'like' on the tweet of Jamia Milia students. It was by mistake, I was scrolling and accidentally it must have been pressed and when I realized I immediately unliked it as In no way do I support such acts.”

The actor was immediately trolled for his tweet.

One user tweeted on his tweet, "He did it intentionally to apologize and condemn later. These guys are under great pressure..we must understand. Speak up freely @akshaykumar .. I am with u.."

Another sarcastic comment is, "The Accidental Nationalist..."

Another user trolled, "Yeah! Even accepting Canadian citizenship was by mistake! We understand, Mr. Kumar, thanks for the clarification."

The amended Citizenship Act (CAA) seeks to grant Indian citizenship to refugees from Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Parsi and Christian communities coming from neighboring countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.

Protests against CAA continued in different parts of the country - Delhi, Assam, Hyderabad, Aligarh, and Kolkata.
