Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu Engages with Centre on Key Development Projects
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held a series of high-level meetings in New Delhi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, cabinet ministers, and key leaders to advance critical projects in the state.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw visited Naidu at his residence in the national capital, where they discussed the South Coast Railway (SCoR) zone, railway infrastructure projects, and the development of Amaravati’s IT sector. The discussion also extended to the state’s burgeoning electronics and medical device industries. Naidu commended the Union government for ensuring rail connectivity to Amaravati, emphasizing its importance for the region's growth.
Naidu later met with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to discuss various financial and industrial issues. One of the key topics was the future of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (Vizag Steel Plant). Sources revealed that discussions focused on shelving privatization plans for the steel plant. Instead, the Centre is considering merging Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Vizag Steel Plant, with the state-owned Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).
Naidu also consulted JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy and the Union Steel Minister on the matter, advocating for measures to protect the interests of the steel plant and its workforce.
The Chief Minister’s meetings underline his proactive approach in collaborating with the Centre to secure the future of key projects, including railway development, Amaravati’s IT and industrial expansion, and safeguarding state assets like the Vizag Steel Plant. These efforts aim to bolster Andhra Pradesh’s economic and industrial landscape.
