Andhra Pradesh CM Orders Inquiry into Diarrhoea-Related Deaths in Vizianagaram District
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has assigned senior IAS officer K. Vijayanand to lead an inquiry into the deaths of several individuals due to suspected diarrhoea in Gurla village, located in the Cheepurupalli constituency of Vizianagaram district. During a review meeting held on Sunday, Naidu directed officials to investigate whether diarrhoea was indeed the cause of the fatalities and to identify any lapses within government departments.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of continuous water testing in the area and instructed officials to ensure the supply of safe drinking water until the situation is fully under control. He also ordered a thorough investigation into the root causes of the incident to prevent further casualties.
District officials briefed Naidu on the medical assistance being provided to the affected residents, including the establishment of medical camps and the supply of clean water. However, Naidu called for a comprehensive investigation and directed the health, panchayat raj, and rural water supply (RWS) departments to collaborate closely.
The Chief Minister reassured the public, advising officials to remain supportive of the affected families until the crisis is resolved. He emphasized the importance of taking preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.
