Andhra Pradesh Government to Issue Pattadar Passbooks with Official Seals, Criticizes Previous Administration
The Andhra Pradesh government has announced the issuance of Pattadar Passbooks to landowners, featuring official seals, according to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. This decision was made on July 29 during a meeting with officials. Naidu criticized former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy for spending Rs 15 crore to print his photos on the passbooks.
"The State Government, as promised during the electioneering and as per the demand of the people, has decided to issue passbooks with official seals. The officers have already submitted a copy of the passbook carrying the official seal," an official release stated. The new passbooks will include a QR code that provides detailed information about the property, including its address and exact location on a map.
The release also criticized the previous government's extensive spending on a resurvey of agricultural lands. Naidu mentioned that Jagan Mohan Reddy's administration had prepared 77 lakh granite stones with his images for the resurvey, costing public funds heavily. The government is now considering how to handle these stones, with an estimated Rs 15 crore required to remove Reddy's images from them.
Naidu pointed out that the public money amounting to Rs 700 crore was wasted due to Reddy's actions. Following the announcement, State Education Minister Nara Lokesh took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm that the new Pattadar Passbooks would carry the emblem of Andhra Pradesh. He also criticized Reddy's YSRCP government for plunging the state into a financial crisis.
"Dear people of Andhra Pradesh, your land Pattadar's Passbook will now carry AP's Emblem (Rajamudra)," Nara Lokesh tweeted. "The YSRCP government not only plunged our State into a financial crisis but also spent Rs 700 crore to get the 'Axe' CM's image printed everywhere, including on your land passbooks. This wasted money which belonged to you," he added. Lokesh emphasized that the NDA government is committed to protecting the lands and dignity of the people of Andhra Pradesh, and this step is a reaffirmation of that promise.
