Apollo Announces ₹1,700 Crore Expansion to Transform Healthcare in Telangana
Apollo Hospitals has unveiled a major healthcare expansion worth over ₹1,700 crore, aimed at transforming Telangana into a centre of medical excellence over the next three years. The announcement, made during the Telangana Rising Summit, outlines a multi-pronged strategy combining advanced treatments, digital innovations, medical education, and community empowerment.
One of the biggest highlights is the introduction of Proton Therapy, a cutting-edge cancer treatment being brought to the Telugu states for the first time. This move positions Telangana as a global destination for advanced oncology care and is expected to greatly enhance treatment outcomes while attracting international medical tourists.
Apollo is also strengthening its diagnostics capacity with a new 40,000 sq ft fully automated Global Reference Lab, which will feature high-end genetic testing, precision medicine systems, molecular diagnostics, and AI-powered biomarker discovery tools. Apollo Health City will continue supporting research through one of India’s largest biobanks, while Apollo Medical College remains focused on training future healthcare leaders through internationally benchmarked academic programs.
Over the years, Apollo has created more than 24,000 direct jobs in Telangana, including major empowerment initiatives for women and youth. It has provided employment to 3,875 women, livelihood support to over 2,000 more, and recruits nearly 4,700 young professionals annually. Through its Total Health model, Apollo has reportedly impacted over 2.6 lakh lives each year, providing essential healthcare access to underserved communities.
Apollo’s telemedicine network and Mobile Medical Units have brought medical care to thousands in remote areas, offering over 14,000 remote consultations. With more than 1,000 Apollo Pharmacies across Telangana, the organisation now serves one in every five Hyderabad residents who require medicines. Supported by an annual pharma distribution worth ₹2,000 crore, Apollo supplies medicines to hundreds of hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies across the state. The new investment marks a significant leap in making Telangana a global healthcare leader.
