Army Day 2026: President Murmu and PM Modi Hail Soldiers’ Courage and Sacrifice
On the occasion of Army Day 2026, President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid heartfelt tributes to the Indian Army, praising its courage, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to the nation. The leaders lauded the force’s selfless service and remembered the supreme sacrifices made by soldiers in the line of duty.
In her message, President Murmu described Army Day as a tribute to the bravery and commitment of soldiers who safeguard the nation under challenging conditions. She said the Indian Army has consistently upheld the highest traditions of professionalism, whether defending the country’s borders or extending assistance during natural disasters.
The President also commended the Army’s gallant performance and notable success in Operation Sindoor, calling it a reflection of the force’s operational excellence. She expressed confidence that the Army would continue to play a vital role in nation-building, contributing to economic growth and inclusive development.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi echoed similar sentiments in a post on X, saluting the Army’s resolute commitment and sense of duty. Army Day, celebrated annually on January 15, commemorates the day Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa took over as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army in 1949. The occasion serves as a reminder of the Army’s central role in ensuring national security and preserving peace.
