Arun Jaitley Passes Away

Veteran BJP leader and former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley died at 12.07 PM on Saturday in New Delhi. He was 66. Jaitley was admitted into AIIMS hospital on August 9 and put on life support since then. AIIMS told that he was being treated by a multidisciplinary team of experienced doctors. Leaders from all political parties are conveying their condolences on social media. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Jaitley was a political giant and articulate leader.
"Arun Jaitley Ji was a political giant, towering intellectual and legal luminary. He was an articulate leader who made a lasting contribution to India. His passing away is very saddening. Spoke to his wife Sangeeta Ji as well as son Rohan, and expressed condolences. Om Shanti," Modi tweeted. Home Minister Amit Shah said that the death of Jaitley is a personal loss to him as he is like a family member to him. "Deeply saddened by Arun Jaitley's death. His death is a personal loss for me. I have not just lost a senior party colleague but also a member of my family, who guided me for several years," he tweeted.

"Arun Jaitley ji served the nation in several capacities and he was an asset to the government and the party organisation. He always had a deep and clear understanding of the issues of the day. His knowledge and articulation won him several friends," senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh tweeted. Jaitley had undergone a kidney transplant on May 14, 2018, at AIIMS and stopped attending the office from April 2018.
