Arvind Kejriwal Appeals Delhi High Court's Stay on Bail Proceedings in Supreme Court
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal filed a petition in the Supreme Court on Sunday, challenging the Delhi High Court's stay on his bail proceedings. The matter is expected to be heard by a vacation bench of the Supreme Court today. On Friday, the Delhi High Court temporarily stayed the bail order previously issued by the trial court in connection with the money laundering case related to the liquor policy scam.
Kejriwal was granted bail by the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi on Thursday, with a bail bond of one lakh rupees to be presented to the duty judge the following day. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) sought a stay of the bail order and requested 48 hours to sign the bail bond, leading to the High Court's stay order. Additionally, Kejriwal received a notice from the Delhi High Court to respond to the ED's appeal against the trial court's June 20 bail decision. The court indicated it would delay the order for two to three days to review the complete file.
