In the dramatic women's kabaddi final played here on Saturday, the Indian team defeated Chinese Taipei 26-25 to capture a record 100th gold at the Asian Games.
The women's kabaddi team has won three titles in the continental championship, surpassing its runner-up result from the previous Games in Indonesia and realizing the nation's dream of being the first to reach the illustrious three-figure milestone.
The Indian ladies had a very tough tournament as Chinese Taipei pushed them to the brink in the championship, just losing out on first place by one point.
In the last two raids, the Indian squad shown steely grit to win the match.
A brilliant attack by Pooja, one of the stars of the thrilling championship match that also saw the team's coach given a warning and a green card, gave India a five-point advantage at the break.
