BJP MLA’s election terminated for defective nomination
The Gujarat High Court invalidated the election of BJP MLA Pabubha Manek from Dwarka for submitting a defective nomination form.
His victory from the Dwarka Assembly constituency in 2017 was opposed in the HC by his opponent and Congress candidate Meraman Ahir.
Ahir said that Manek's election should be kept aside as he had submitted a defective nomination form.
Admitting it, Justice Paresh Upadhyay on Friday canceled the election held for the Dwarka seat in December 2017.
Though Ahir sought to declare himself as the winner, the court has not accepted it but only ordered the cancellation of the election.
In the petition, Ahir said that Manek forgot to write the constituency name on the form, which led to a cancellation of the election.
