BRS Leader K Kavitha Declines CBI Summons, Citing Election Commitments
BRS MLC K Kavitha stood firm in her decision to decline the CBI's summons, pointing to her extensive commitments in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. In a written response to the agency, Kavitha requested the withdrawal of notices under Section 41A of CrPC, emphasizing her need to focus on the rigorous campaign trail for the next six weeks.
Highlighting her densely packed schedule of personal meetings across various districts in the state, Kavitha expressed practical constraints in attending the questioning scheduled for February 26. However, she extended her willingness to engage in the inquiry through virtual means, provided with prior details and timings.
Expressing disappointment over the CBI's choice of summoning under Section 41A of CrPC, Kavitha reiterated her non-involvement in the alleged accusations. She referred to a previous notice issued by the CBI ACB, emphasizing the matter's sub-judice status and her limited role in the ongoing case. Drawing parallels with a related PMLA case before the Supreme Court, she invoked the assurance made by the ASG regarding summons until the case's hearing, implying its relevance to her current circumstances.
Kavitha's steadfast stance underscores her commitment to her electoral responsibilities amidst legal challenges, reflecting her prioritization of public service amidst political and legal obligations.
